Your rights at work

  • Minimum wage is £13.59 an hour from 1 April 2026 for anyone past school-leaving age; first-year trainees on an approved scheme can be paid £10.50.
  • At least three weeks' paid holiday a year, on top of bank holidays. Zero-hours staff can be paid holiday as an extra 6% on the hourly rate.
  • A written statement of your terms within four weeks of starting.
  • A 20-minute break if you work six hours or more, and 24 hours' rest in every seven days.
  • Social Security (6%) and income tax are deducted before you're paid. You need a registration card to work.
