Questions
How much holiday am I entitled to in Jersey?
At least 3 weeks' paid leave a year (15 days if you work 5 days a week), plus paid leave on Christmas Day, Good Friday and every public or bank holiday. Part-timers get 3 of their own working weeks.
Can my employer count bank holidays as part of the 3 weeks?
No. Public and bank holidays are a separate entitlement. If you're required to work one, you're owed a substitute day.
What happens to unused holiday when I leave?
You're paid for leave accrued but not taken, using (entitlement × share of the leave year worked) − days taken. If you've taken more than you've accrued, the employer can recover the excess.
Can I carry holiday over?
Only if your contract allows it, or you're on parental leave.
